St. Bernard Academy is a Catholic, independent, school serving students in grades Pre-K through 8 at a range of academic abilities. All students are expected to master the skills presented in grade level texts and as set forth in grade level national standards as established by agencies such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Council of Teachers of Reading, and National Council of Language Arts Teachers.
Students in Accelerated classes are expected to master the skills presented in advanced level texts and as set forth in national standards for students at least one year above their chronological grade level. In addition these students are presented with learning opportunities and challenges that require a significant greater commitment of time and effort. These students are expected to far exceed that which would be considered an average performance in thinking and reasoning at the next grade level.
