SBA nurtures the development of the whole child and helps each student to realize his or her potential academically, physically, socially, and as a contributing member of the school community and the wider community. Learning takes place in many other environments outside the classroom. Valuable skills are developed through the many activities that are available to SBA students.

Student Council elections, held each fall, provide SBA students with the opportunity to experience the political process of elected office. Ending with a public forum of speeches to the electorate, delivered by each candidate, school wide campaigns lead to voting in regulation voting booths. Results are tabulated and announced at the end of the day and newly elected officers begin leadership of the student government immediately.

Athletic competition, held in its proper perspective, complements all facets of SBA's mission, and goals. Interscholastic competition in team and individual sports nurtures body, mind and spirit alike. SBA students compete and have maintained strong school traditions of success in school sponsored basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, lacross, soccer, swimming, volleyball and wrestling.

SBA students may participate in extensive co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Each offers students opportunities to extend and apply their learning and develop individual talents in a non-classroom environment.
